mRFP producer controlled by 3OC6-HSL with RBS B0034
The luxR based receiver (BBa_K081022) controls the production of mRFP (BBa_I13507).
In presence of cell-cell signaling molecule 3OC6-HSL, a LuxR transcription factor (BBa_C0062)
is able to activate a Plux promoter (BBa_R0062).
LuxR production is driven by a cI lambda regulator (BBa_R0051).
If used in a cell containing cI repressor (BBa_C0051) Plambda promoter is turned off,
and the production of LuxR transcription factor is inhibited.
In absence of the cI repressor Plambda promoter behaves as a strong constitutive promoter.
This is a biosensor which receives 3OC6-HSL concentration as input and returns mRFP intensity as output.
This measurement device belongs to a set of four biosensors that differ in RBS efficiency of the reporter system useful to modulate the output range.
